Babasana football AJSA down SFA by 2-0 margin

Second half goals by Gaisuilung and Gaingamlung helped All Jiribam Sports Association (AJSA) defeat Silchar Football Academy 2-0 in the final of the 1st Under-14 Boys Babasana Singh Memorial Football Tournament played today at Earl High School playground.
Despite being the dominant side in the opening half AJSA's opener came 12 minutes after the break with Gaisuilung scoring from the top of the rival box before Gaingamlung sealed the championship victory in the 80th minute.
The champions were presented top cash prize of Rs 8000 and trophy with the runners-up having to be contented with Rs 5000 .
With the exception of the best goalkeeper bagged by the SFA custodian, AJSA swept the other individual titles with O Rajen Singh, gaisuilung, Kapoujan and Jawminthang respectively declared the tournament's best coach, best scorer/best player, best defender and best promising player.
The tournament organised by Lakhipur Football Academy, Cachar (Assam) since February 8 and competed by teams from Jiribam and Cachar was sponsored by Thangjam Sarat Singha in memory of his father.
The closing ceremony was held with IAS Oinam Saral Kumar and Lakhipur Football Academy VP A Gouragopal as the chief guest and functional president respectively with Lakhipur Municipal Council VC L Robindro Singh, 7 IRB CO KC Lokho, film actor Hamom Sadananda Singh and tournament donor Th Sarat Kumar attending as the guests of honour.
