State judokas claim 16 medals at Commonwealth Judo Championship

Imphal, November 10 2018:
Manipur judokas dominated the medal haul for the country as they managed 16 medals including 11 gold and 5 silver medals at the Commonwealth Judo Championship 2018 held at Jaipur.
L Sushila fetched a gold medal in the 48 kg senior women's category event held today.
Anita (57 kg senior women), H Sunibala (63 kg senior women) and Jina Devi (78 kg senior women) also defeated their respective rivals to clinch gold medals in the other events staged today while L Sharda finished with a silver medal in the 52 kg category event.
L Nirupama (57 kg) also got a silver medal today.
In the junior girls events, M Indubala won a gold medal in the 78 kg category event while Rina (48 kg) and Rubina (57 kg) collected one silver medal each.
Earlier on November 8, Thangjam Tababi (cadet girls-44kg) and L Jagdish (cadet boys- 60 kg) added one gold medal each.
K Vishal (-66 kg), L Matouleibi (-52 kg), I Kalpana (-63 kg) and L Guguria (+63 kg) also bagged one gold medal each on November 6 events while L Babumacha (+46 kg) finished with a silver medal on the day.
A total of 20 judokas, including 6 pre-cadet category players from Manipur represented India in this championship besides coaches Chingkheinganbi Huirem, Tombi Devi and A Surjit Meitei in the Indian team.
