Hill District Badminton Championship concludes

The XVI edition of Hill District Badminton Championship hosted by Churachandpur District Badminton Association culminated today evening at the CDBA Indoor Badminton Stadium, Hiangtam Lamka with Senapati District lifting the overall championship trophy.
Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar, Agriculture minister V Hangkhanlian, and the Director General of Police LM Khaute graced the closing ceremony and gave away the prizes.
The week long championship was organised by Hill Districts Badminton Association, Manipur with sports gear manufacturing company Yonex as its major sponsor.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister maintained that sports play an integral part in the transformation of the society for good and helps in fostering brotherhood and peace besides preserving ones health.
Lauding the effort of the organiser for the successful conduct of the competition, Joykumar said there are lots of talented youngsters today who could excel to higher level of competition if proper guidance and support is given to them.
He therefore urged the badminton loving community in the state to strive and tap the hidden talents in youngsters.
While the finals for other categories are played early, the under 11 boys single final, the men open single final and the men open double finals are played during the closing event.
Tournament Results
Kyoveio of SDBA claimed the U-11 Boys' title beating his compatriot Kalo Truman in the final while the duo claimed the U-11 doubles title.
Fiorina Kom of CDBA win the U-l5 girls' singles title while Wungmayo of SDBA claimed the U-l5 boys singles title.
Boys' U-15 doubles title went to Guikan and Wungmayo.
The U-l9 girls singles title went to Ngaivenkim Ngaite of CDBA while U-19 Boys singles title was claimed by Andrew Lotzem of SDBA.
Vunghoihmawi and Ngaivenkim Ngaite won the U-l 9 girls doubles title while Muanliansang and T Thangbiakal were able to get the U-l9 boys doubles title.
Hoichong of ACDBA was crowned Women's U-35 years champion while Joycee and Lhingboi of CDBA claimed the women's doubles title of this category.
Women's open title went to S Puro of SDBA who also bagged the doubles title with Kungni.
Honeyson of UDBA claimed the men's U-35 years category title while Lian Hatlang and Sasang Gangte of CDBA emerge doubles champions.
In the men's singles 40 years final, KG Kom of SDBA beat David Piaklin of CDBA to win the title.
KG Kom also won the doubles title of this age group with David Haokip.
The mens singles title for U-45 year category went to Heny Luny who also won the doubles title pairing up with PP Ronald.
S Thangboi of ACDBA clinched men's singles title for U-50 years while Kamkhenpao and Puakhanmuan Samte of CDBA emerged doubles champions of this age group.
Ahongjao of CDBA fetched men's single for U-55 years title before claiming the doubles title with H Thangzamuan.
Wunganing of UDBA claimed men's U-60 years category title while Kh Kaohii and RS Abel of SDBA claimed the double title of this category.
RS Abel of SDBA claimed men's single U-65, years title while S Zingthang and W Anari of ACDBA .
claimed the mixed doubles title.
Men's open title went to Andrew Lotzem of SDBA while P Aloftson and T Thangboi of CDBA lifted the men's doubles title.
