Imphal, May 05 2019:
Universal Wushu Academy and District Wushu Association, Thoubal have expressed strong resentment against the alleged unauthorized selection of players for participation in the National Coaching Camp and trial selection which would be held at SAI, Bhopal as a preparation of the 10th Junior Asian Wushu Championship and 15th World Wushu Championship.
Universal Wushu Academy and District Wushu Association, Thoubal in its joint press release stated that a list of wushu players released by "H Jayadev who claimed himself to be the secretary of Wushu Association of Manipur" for the National Camp has created confusion among the wushu players of the State as none of the affiliated units were notified or informed through any channel or media about the trial in advance which is against the rules.
The wushu bodies claimed that they "do not recognise H Jayadev and the association of which he is the secretary" and demanded clarification whether the association really exists and is affiliated to Wushu Association of India before the players depart for the National trials.
The bodies also urged all concerned to look into the matter at the earliest and prevent self style authorities or associations from misleading the players of the State and continued that H Jayadev should bear all the responsibilities if the players as mentioned in their list are denied participation in the National trial.
Meanwhile, Central Wushu Institute also decried the release of list of players for participation in the National trials by Hahjabam Jayadev and Chirom Nabadwip who claim to be the legitimate secretary and president of Wushu Association of Manipur.
"Central Wushu Institute" which is an affiliated and founder unit of Wushu Association of Manipur also claimed that no prior information was given to the institute.
Shortlisting of players in such dubious manner is against the rules and norms and it has caused chaos and confusion to all the players of the State.
The Institute also demanded clarification from the Wushu Association of Manipur on its failure to give prior information to the affiliated units before shortlisting players.
