TRAU leads with 34 points

Imphal, January 06 2011:
After Winning today's match, TRAU with 34 points led the point tally of the ongoing 5th Manipur State League organized by the All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) under the Vision India Project of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.
In the first match today, defending champion, NISA, Thangmeiband got walkover as its opponent AIFA, Irengban failed to turn up the venue by the schedule.
After winning today's match NISA with 29 points is in the second spot.
On the other hand, AIFA with three points is in the last place in the point tally.
Action to be taken up against AIFA for failing to turn up at the venue is not decided yet.
In the second match, TRAU, Kwakeithel beat SSU, Singjamei 2-0 to win.
TRAU had played 14 matches in the league so far out of which they won 10 matches.
The other four matches were drawn.
While TRAU lead the point tally with 34 points, SSU was in the eighth place with only 17 points.
Both team played today's match with full coordination and determination to win.
Although they won the match TRAU players found it impossible to penetrate the strong defense of SSU in the first half of the match.
As a result the first half concluded draw with both teams failed to register any score against one another.
After a keenly contested match, S Piba of TRAU drew the first blood in the 74th minute of the match fom a pass from left corner by his teammate A Arunjit.
The second goal was scored in the 77th minute by Lunminlal Khongsai Rama.
SSU tried their best to equalize the score but they could not strike a single goal through the strong defense of TRAU and lost the match.
AIM, Khabam Lamkhai and ESU, Wangkhei will play the first match tomorrow at 11.30 am.
The second match will be played between USA, Uripok and MPSC at 1.30 pm.
