Imphal, January 06 2011:
A new scheme on National permit system of vehicles launched by the Government of India recently has come into force in Manipur too.
The new scheme known as National Permit New Regime was enforced in other States of India since June 18 last year, informed an official source from the State Transport Department.
According to the earlier permit system, a vehicle had to pay Rs 5000 per year to all transit States which means one vehicle has to pay Rs 25,000 per year if the vehicle is crossing five different
States.
Now, with the enforcement of the new permit regime, a vehicle can travel all over India by paying Rs 15,000 for a year as tax.
For the purpose of implementing the new scheme, the Government of India has selected the State Bank of India as the nodal bank, said the official source further.
