NSG : Rudraksh enters boxing final, five settle for bronze; U-17 girls reach football quarters

Imphal, December 28 2023:
Manipur's Rudraksh has confirmed at least a silver medal in the U-14 boys' 42 kg category competition in the ongoing 67th National School Games Boxing at Akola, Maharashtra.
Rudraksh who defeated Telangana's K Bharat yesterday in the quarter-final defeated Praas of Haryana 4-3 in the semi-final bout today to confirm his place in the final.

However, five boxers faltered in the semi-final bouts to settle for the bronze medals.
Ronald Keisham ended his -32 kg category campaign with a loss to Rajasthan rival Aryan Prajapati as Ksh Shahil suffered a 36 kg category semi-final loss to Nitin of Haryana.
Y Giveson in the meantime went down to Prince of Delhi in the 44 kg category semi-final bout before M Lanchenba was beaten by UP rival Devesh Mishra in a 46 kg category semi-final bout and Kh Leishemba Meitei was beaten by J&K opponent Krishna in a 48 kg category semi-final bout.
U-17 Girls Football
Manipur girls who topped Group G competition yesterday, defeated Maharashtra 2-0 to enter the quarter final of the U-17 Girls National School Games Football being underway in Patna.
The goals that separated the two sides were scored by H Linthoi and N Henarita respectively in the 14th and the 56th minutes.
Manipur will play Chhattisgarh in a quarter-final match tomorrow at 1 pm .
U-17 Boys Football
Manipur kicked off the U-17 Boys National School Games Football hosted by Andaman and Nicobar Island in Port Blair with a 10-0 demolition of Karnataka.
P Raja took centre-stage in the match as he scored five goals alone (5', 12', 17', 27', 41') including the opener while E Nipa (9'), Md Zahid khan (23'), Kh Hitler (49'), Kh Sunny (55') and N Rohijit (57') contributed a goal apiece.
Manipur will play Gujarat in the next Group (D) match on December 30 .
