Festival of Chalahjowl Offspring held

The 1st festival of Chalahjowl Offspring/descendants (Chalahjowl Vobu Angshung Alum) was organised by the Central Organising Committee of 11 clans of Anal community at Oklu village playground in Chandel on Thursday.
The function was attended by CRPF commandant Rd Jeany Anal and deputy secretary (transport) St Ringthung as chief guest and guest of honour respectively while Anal Naga Baptist Association (ANBA) former executive secretary reverend KI Tangthu Anal was present as function administrator.
Along with inaugurating the newly constructed village gate of Oklu village, KI Tangthu Anal also unveiled the monument erected as part of the festival.
During the festival, elders of 11 clans of Anal community were introduced to the crowd according to their culture and tradition and presented gifts as a mark of respect.
The women of Chalahjowl present on the occasion also distributed "Showng" a local eatable of Anal, to those taking part at the festival.
It is said that 11 clans of Anal tribe resided together in Chalahjowl village in Chandel district long time back.
As time passed, the 11 clans shifted from Chalahjowl village to different locations but finally settled at a village called Vobu and remained here till this day.
Though some of the descendants of the 11 clans have left the village and settled elsewhere, the remaining descendants still live together peacefully.
