Sub-junior National Football Championship : Manipur hold Himachal Pradesh in C’ship opener

Imphal, October 26 2017:
The Sub-junior National Football Championship 2017 organised by All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) under the supervision of All India Football Federation began today at District Sports Complex, Kodompokpi .
The National championship which is participated by 21 teams from across India was kicked-off by the Director YAS, N Pravin (IAS).
The opening ceremony was also attended by Health Minister L Jayentakumar as chief guest and Forest Minister, Th Shyamkumar as chairman .
The teams are divided into 7 groups to compete in the league matches.
The winners of the seven groups and one second best team among the groups will qualify for the quarter finals .
Manipur were held to 1-1 draw by Himachal Pradesh in the opening match today.
H Silky Devi of Manipur struck the first goal of the match in the 14th minute but was equalised by Sonisoni of Himachal in the 42nd minute of the match.
Both teams could not break the deadlock till the final whistle.
The group A teams will again clash on October 28 .
In the group C league match, Madhya Pradesh outclassed Jammu and Kashmir by a huge margin of 17-0.Bandana Yadav scored 7 goals (9′, 23′, 37′, 45′, 49′, 56′, 71′) and Madhubala Alwi score three goals (1′, 6′, Addl time) to outclass Jammu and Kashmir .
Kartika Chouhan, Sivani Ninima and Kajal Sonekar struck twice each for Madhya Pradesh and a single goal was contributed by Aditi Sury-abanshi to complete the 17-0 rout .
In today’s group D league match, Orissa blanked Rajasthan with an emphatic 14-0 margin .
Sabita Soreng who hit a treble scored the opener early in the 8th minute and the latter two goals came in the 31st and 73rd minute.
Manisha Naik did the star turn in this match as she struck 5 goals (37′, 45′, 78′, 83′, 87′) for Orissa.
Gaitri Behara and Subhasamitra Subhadarshini struck twice each while Sumitra scored a single against Rajasthan.
An own goal from Rajasthan’s Man-mun Choudhary added ano- ther goal to concede a humiliating 0-14 to Orissa .
West Bengal will meet Mizoram in a group E league match tomorrow at 8 am.
In group F league match, Uttarakhand will face Chha-tisgarh at 11 am .
Maharashtra will face Tamil Nadu in group G league match at 2 pm.
