1st District Level Volleyball tourney, 2019 begins at Senapati

Senapati, November 14 2019:
The District Level Volleyball Tournament, 2019, organised by the Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM) under the theme, "Unity through Sports" in collaboration with the NYK, Senapati was opened by Th Shyamkumar, Minister MAHUD, Forest & Environment, Horticulture, Soil Conservation and Town Planning, GoM who attended the opening funcion as chief guest in the presence of PP Ronald, SDO Tadubi as guest of honour at Mini Stadium Ground, Senapati which will be continued till Novemebr 16 .
Joram Koveo, president SDOAM, in his welcome address, lauded the minister as one who is always ready to walk the extra mile for the betterment of all especially in the field of sports and education.
He further said that minister Shyamkumar was an educator for people of the region where he taught at Savio School, Tungjoy and a sculptor who has moulded and nurtured so many young minds of the region to become someone great this day.
PP Ronald SDO Tadubi expressed gratitude to the organising committee for organising such games with an aim to bring unity and trust in the region through the right theme.
He said that sports have no limits if one is really interested in it adding that it could bring name, fame, glory to the land while stressing on the need to encourage the young and talented ones to master in their own fields.
Paulina Monsang, Co-ordinator, NYK Senapati gave away sports materials to all the 9 participating women teams.
She said that there are 277 youth clubs registered in the NYK of the district where the office used to distribute sports materials to those registered youth clubs from time to time.
Speaking as the chief guest, Th Shyamkumar said that the purpose of his visit was to spread the message of conserving forest and wildlife for better tomorrow.
He said that many dreadful diseases and sickness spread out due to killing of wild life that prey on insects.
The minister further said that it is his duty to go to all places of the state.
20 different teams from the district were participating in men's volleyball while 9 women teams are taking part in the tournament which is conducted on knock-out basis.
