Olympic Day Run organised in Jiribam

Jiribam Olympic Association today successfully organised a run under the banner "Olympic Day Run" at 6.30 am in Jiribam.
The run participated by veteran players, women athletes, police personnel and members from various clubs and civil society organisations was flagged off by M Mubi Singh, MPS, SP Jiribam from Jiribam's Ema Keithel in the presence of M Brajakanta Singh, president, Jiribam Olympic Association and RK Nobinsana Singh, Pradhan, Dibong Gram Panchayat who attended the inaugural function as dignitaries.
Other members of Jiribam Olympic Association and sports enthusiasts attended the inaugural programme held before the run.
In his key note address, Ch Ranjit Singh, secretary, Jiribam Olympic Association said that the association was founded with the aim of promoting games and sports in the district.
"Keeping the changing trends in the mind, the association was instituted to encourage games and sports in the district and the ultimate aim of the association is to produce successful players," Ranjit said.
RK Nobinsana, who attended the programme as guest of honour said that the establishment of Jiribam Olympic Association at the right time was a big achievement for the sports lover of the district.
Nobinsana, asserting the need for developing indoor stadium in the district, said that the district has enough space and site for outdoor games but lack proper arenas for indoor games.
He appealed all concerned to stress in the area so that both indoor and outdoor games are equally developed in the district.
Chief guest of the event, SP M Mubi Singh lauded the people of the Jiribam for their efforts and dedication to games and sports even before the attainment of district status.
He also motivated all players to bring laurels to the district, State and the country at large.
Giving presidential speech, M Brajakanta Singh said that the association will work at its level best in aiding every need for improvement of games and sports in the district.
The run was organised to mark the foundation of the International Olympic Committee at the Sorbonne, Paris at the initiative of Baron Pierre de Coubertin in 1894 .
