The Citizens' Club, Soibam Leikai lead the Imphal East District Super Division Football League Tournament, 2009 organised by the Imphal East District Football Association (IEDFA) at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal.
Citizen's Club bagged 17 points so far and lead the tournament while ABA, Kshetrigao and PYA, Kairang follows with 16 points.
XI-Star is also in the race of the champion's title with 15 points.
Today's first match was played between PYA, Kairang and UPSA, Pukhao.
PYA beat UPSA 2-1 in a keenly contested match.
Both teams displayed a very tough match against one another.
However, lack of coordination among the players of UPSA can be seen in the first few minutes of the match.
Taking full advantage of the situation, Anand of PYA scored two successive goals against UPSA in the 12th and 17th minute of the match.
UPSA players were disappointed a little bit by the serious hit of PYA.
However they recovered soon and scored back one goal against PYA in the 28th minute.
Th Nityaichand scored the goal.
They tried hard to equalise the score but could not realised their dreams since PYA players too played the match more substantially.
The match concluded with PYA winning by one goal.
Meanwhile, XI-Star, Akampat and YOSC, Khurai played a tie in today's second match.
Both teams played the match very competitively.
XI-Star took the first lead with a goal of Lucky Chaudhury in the 5th minute of the match.
Kh Rajesh of XI-Star struck a goal attempt against their opponent team which came reflected from the skipper O Sushil's hand.
Lucky headed the ball towards the net and scored the goal.
The goal took YOSC players by surprise.
But they recovered soon and began many counter attacks.
The first half conlcuded with XI-Star leading.
YOSC players began to play more substantially in the second half.
With much effort, Moses of YOSC scored the equaliser in the 54th minute of the match.
He scored the goal the same way in which Lucky Chaudhury of XI-Star scored his team's goal.
Moses scored the goal from a ball reflected from the XI-Star skipper Kh Bulbul which was kick in by K Luckychand of YOSC.
Y Jagat, N Radhakanta, A Chitaranjan of XI-Star and Suresh, Sanjit of YOSC were issued a yellow card each by the referee for their unsporting behaviour during the match.
