Imphal, September 21 2009:
The act of killing people in fake encounters amounts to dictatorship.
The use of force will not solve the insurgency problem in the state rather it will increase insurgency related violence in the state.
This was stated by Sarat Salam, state secretary of CPI (M) Manipur unit during the 61st farmers' day organised by the Manipur Loumee Marup at Rumahal Theatre.
He said, the state has come to this stage due to the coming into power of money oriented politicians who have no morality.
He also lamented that these politicians have used force to suppress the people's movement rather than trying to feel the sentiments of the people.
He said, this is not democratic and this will not bring peace in the land.
Social worker, N Binoy, who is also the one-time close associate of Lamyanba Irabot, said the day has been observed as farmers' Day to commemorate the farmers' uprising on this day in 1948 under the leadership of Irabot.
The observance function today was graced by Manipur Loumee Marup president L Kunjo as the president while the guests of honour were L Tiken, L Yaipha, M Shamu, N Nupen, S Behari, M Gulamjat, and Th Nilkamal.
