Sub-Junior and Youth State Basketball : Youth Club claim sub-junior boys' title, CYLC emerge youth boys' champions

Youth Club, Uripok Achom Leikai beat Young Physique Union, Lalambung Makhong by 35-24 points to clinch the title of the 34th State Sub-Junior Boys Basketball while CYLC, Chingamathak overwhelmed YPHU, Lalambung by 57-37 points to emerge champions of the 26th State Youth Basketball Championships 2018 .
The championship was organised by Manipur Basketball Association at Model Club Basketball Court, Chingamakha featuring 2 girls' and 7 boys' teams in the sub-junior competition and 2 girls' and 7 boys' youth teams featuring in it.
Sub-Jr Boys .
Youth Club Uripok Achom Leikai had a sloppy start as they went down by 8-9 points to YPHU in the first quarter.
The second quarter also went to YPHU as it ended 13-14.YPHU seemed to take home the match as they were able to finish the third quarter 24-17 but fortune swung too fast that Youth Club returned stronger in the last quarter and sealed the match by 35-24 points.
Bishwanath was unstoppable today as he scored a massive 20 points for Youth Club while Tamchui scored 9 points.
Boiboi and Nelson also contributed 4 points and 2 points respectively.
Krishnachary scored the highest of 7 points for the Lalambung Makhong side while L Rahul and M Lanchenba had an ineffective day settling with 5 points and 4 points respectively.
Paikhomba L, Wilubou ML, Marky Kh and Zenith H scored 2 points each in this match to finish runners up.
Youth Boys .
CYLC, Chingamathak notched up an overwhelming 57-37 points victory against YPHU, Lalambung Makhong to win the youth boys' title.
CYLC dominated the game from the first quarter onwards.
It was 13-7 in the first quarter before it ended 33-18 in the second quarter.
The third quarter also ended by 45-29 points in favour of CYLC before the game ended 57-37 .
Robertson scored the highest of 18 points for CYLC while Benish and A Lenin scored 12 points each.
Ramesh also registered 10 points in his name while A Kereen added another 2 points to hand his team a huge win and ultimately the championship title.
A Bobichandra and Tanson tried hard to lift YPHU scoring 18 and 12 points respectively while L Vikash also made 7 points before going down by 37-57 points.
The closing function of the championship was attended by Y Khemchand Singh, Speaker Manipur Legislative Assembly; Education Minister Th Radheshyam Singh; L Radhakishore Singh, Chairman Manipur Pollution Control Board and H Indeshwor Singh, president Model Club, Chingamakha as dignitaries who also felicitated the winners and other participants.
Sub-junior boys' winners, Youth Club and youth boys' winners, CYLC were feted with winners trophies and cash prize of Rs 10,000 each while runners up of sub-junior boys and youth boys' competitions, YPHU were awarded with Rs 5,000 each along with trophies.
Sub-junior girls champions, RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya and runners up Pitambara English School were also awarded Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively along with trophies.
Youth girls' champions, St Anthony were also feted with winners trophy and a cash prize of Rs 10,000 while RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya were awarded runners up trophy with a cash prize of Rs 5,000 on the occasion.
