Imphal, December 19:
Hosts Manipur emerged as the overall champion of the 17th Senior National Tug of War Championship that concluded at Khuman Lampak Main stadium today.
The Manipur men and women pullers secured three gold medals.
In the women's 480 kg class final Manipur registered two sets to nil victory over Maharashtra as UP took the 440 kgs gold defeating Jharkhand women.
In women's catch weight (open) final Delhi eves prevailed over MP.
Manipur bagged its second yellow metal when the men's team scored 2-0 win over Maharashtra in 640 kg division.
The State men's team also beat Delhi with similar set score for the catch-weight gold.
In the other men's finals, Jharkhand beat Orissa for the 560 kg gold, while Gujarat took the 600 kg top prize with victory over Uttar Pradesh men.
The prize distribution ceremony was held with MLA S Natum as chief guest while president of Tug of War Federation of India IPS (Retd) Gautam Kaul presided it.
Gen Secy of the federation Madan Mohan graced the function as guest of honour.
