Rabichandra Memorial Open Football Tournament : WFC claim thrilling win to lift trophy

WFC,
Moirangkhom lifted the title of
the 7th State Level Moirangjam
Rabichandra Memorial Open
Football Tournament, today at
Kyamgei Ideal High School
ground, Kyamgei Mayai
Leikai.
The closing ceremony of
the tournament was graced by
Keishamthong AC MLA L
Ibomcha Singh and Wangoi
AC MLA O Lukhoi Singh as
presidium members.
In today's final match,
WFC, Moirangkhom registered
a thrilling 6-5 win
against BFC, Bashikhong
Panthoibi via penalty shootout
after both the sides were
held 2-2 in normal time.
The match began with
WFC's Sanatomba striking an
early goal in the 7th minute to
help his side take a 1-0 win.
On the other hand, BFC
fought back hard and overcame
WFC after Daya and Th
Roshan struck home in the
24th and 37th minutes respectively.
The first half ended BFC
taking a 2-1 lead against
WFC.
Minutes after breather,
WFC came back into the
match after Y Sova found the
equaliser in the 49th minute.
After the match was drawn
into 2-2 draw, penalty was
brought into the match to
decide the match winner.
In the penalty shoot-out,
W Denial, L Millan, L Ratan
and Y Sova found their targets
giving four four goals to
WFC.
On the other side, A
Herojit, Daya Singh and
Robinson converted while N
Herojit and Raju Singh failed
to find the target.
Team champion WFC
were awarded a cash prize of
Rs 40,000 along with a trophy
while runners up BFC
received a cash prize of Rs
25,000 and a trophy.
Further, a cash prize of Rs
5000 each were awarded to
the semifinalist teams TAC,
Yaiskul and PFC, Kyamgei.
The top scorer title went to
Sanatomba WFC,
Moirangkhom while the best
goal keeper title was bagged
by Johnson of RFC,
Khamnam Leikai.
The man of the final match
title was awarded to WFC
goalkeeper Suraj and the best
player of the tournament was
named Loken of PFC.
The individual winners
were awarded a cash prize of
Rs 2000 each.
