Help extended to quake victims

National Students' Union of
India (NSUI) extended assis-
tance to earthquake victims
who are currently staying in
relief camps located at Mot-
bung and Kangpokpi areas
today.
The visiting team was ac-
companied by the general
secretary of Indian Youth
Congress Northeast in-charge
Indrani Mishra.
The team vis-
ited various relief camps and
extended assistance and sup-
port to the earthquake victims.

Committee extended their help
to people staying at the relief
camps set up at Bishnulal
Govt High School located at
Charhajar of Sadar Hills.
There, Indrani Mishra said
that she was there to provide
all forms of help and support
to the people affected by the
devastating earthquake.
It may be mentioned that
besides the loss of several
lives, many were injured in
the earthquake that struck the
State on Jan 4.
She further said that her
visit was coordinated and su-
pervised by the chairperson
of the Indian Youth Congress, Rahul Gandhi.
Showing her support to residents
of the relief camps, she said that the Indian Youth Congress would
extend possible support to the victims in the coming days too.
President of Manipur Youth Congress Committee, Amir
Hussein led the team which visited Chalbung where relief
camps were set up to house members of 38 households whose
houses were severely damaged by the devastating earthquake.
The team also extended help to Bethel Colony where 150
people from 137 households damaged by the earthquake are
provided temporary shelter.
Some people have also took shelter at neighbour houses
and also at Educational Training School.
The team later visited the earthquake affected areas of
Kangpokpi and provided help to the people.
They also visited a relief camp at Nepali Motbung where
member of 38 households are given shelter.
In the same area,
donations were also made to a Meitei colony.
The team included secretary of Manipur Pradesh Congress
Committee Youth Congress P Sashikanta, President of NSUI
(Manipur State) Bikram Khuman, vice-president of NSUI
Victor, ex-Youth Congress leader L Memo Singh.
The team also later visited the relief camp set up at Uripok
Tourangbam Leikai and provided assistance.
The visiting team donated rice, pulses, edible oil, potato and
other relief materials to the affected victims.
