Imphal, January 15 2016 :
Following an agreement with the Chief
Minister, the Committee of Affected Shop Owners of Ima Keithel
to Kasturi Building, Thangal bazar, has called off its agitation
midway today.
As announced earlier, bazar bandh was imposed in
Khwairamband bazar for a few hours this morning before the
committee and the Chief Minister held a meeting.
At the meeting, the committee representatives advised the
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi against the construction of the
proposed temporary market shed along the Thangal bazar
road.
They urged the CM to leave a space in the middle for
transportation.
Earlier, the CM had proposed the construction of a three
row market shed on the Thangal bazar road to rehabilitate the
quake affected vendors temporarily.
The proposition would
mean blocking the entire road to commuters.
Committee of Affected Shop Owners of Ima Keithel to
Kasturi Building today, demanding revocation of the Government's
decision, imposed a bandh at Khwairamband bazar.
The agitation was however called off after they came to an
understanding with the CM at the meeting.
Imphal West SP, City police OC and PWD SCs were
present at the meeting, Committee spokespersons H
Bandankumar told media persons at a press meet today.
