4th MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy : Gelson, Bijoykumar shine in MPSC's 127-run win as Khushru Pravez propels KSDO to 98-run victory

NAPSA-Kha Imphal, PCC-Mayaikoibi, MPSC-Old Lambulane and KSDO-Kyamgei registered wins in today's matches of the ongoing 4th MNCA Luwangpokpa T20 Trophy organised by the Manipur Cricket Association.
In today's Group C match staged at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, MPSC notched up a huge 127 run victory against KIYC-Kshetrigao riding on an allround performance from Gelson Thoudam.
Maibam Bijoykumar also starred with an impressive 6 wicket haul in this match.
MPSC opted to bat first and amassed 198 runs for 4 wickets courtesy Gelson Singh's blistering 44-ball 80 that included 12 fours and 2 sixes.

MPSC then bundled out KIYC for 71 runs in 14.2 overs as Maibam Bijoykumar (6/17 in 4 overs) and Gelson Thoudam (3/7 in 2.2 overs) wreaked havoc across their line up.
Gelson's partnership with Sagolshem Sunil 30 for the first wicket and Soubam Kingson 30 not out for the second wicket was crucial in gathering a huge total of 198 runs.
Sarangthem Shangker 22 and Chingangbam Lokeshwor 13 also added small but significant double digit runs for MPSC.
The innings saw Wakip Sheikh, Md Abdulla Khan, Ahanthem Mangesh and Md Kaosar pick up a wicket apiece.
In reply, KIYC had a nightmarish start as Maibam Bijoykumar Singh ran riot to dismiss 6 batters on the trot including two wickets each in the 5th and the 7th overs to reduce KIYC to 31/6 before Gelson swept the three tailenders .
Kaosar with 17 runs was the highest run getter for KIYC.
Gelson was eventually adjudged man of the match.
Meanwhile in a Group D match staged at Lairenjam Public Ground, PSC had to rue their decision to field first as KSDO racked up 192 for 5 wickets and held them to 94/9 riding on Khushru Pravesh's all round performance.
Put in to bat first, KSDO had a steady start but slipped to 86-4 after 11 overs as Laishram Devwart removed Nawaz Sharif for 22 and Abdul Rafique for 26 and Ibungomacha Hijam and Tongbram Sagar picked up a wicket apiece.
From 86/4, Khushru Pravez and Tarique Aziz stitched together a 34-ball 67 run partnership before Lamabam Martin bowled Khushru 58 for the fifth wicket.
Khushru's knock include 7 fours and 4 sixes.
Tarique Aziz was unbeaten on 45 with Shahjahan (8 not out) as KSDO innings ended with the scoreboard reading 192/5 .
Khushru Pravesh then scalped four top order batters to throttle PSC's chase to return with the best figures of 4/10 in 4 overs.
Shah Jahan also bagged two wickets (2/18 in 4 overs) before Lamabam Martin 16, RK Surchand 18 not out and Tongbram Sagar 11 put in a brave effort late on.
Khushru Pravez who starred with both the bat and ball was adjudged man of the match.
Elsewhere at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, NAPSA kicked off their Group A campaign with a narrow 13 run victory over SDC-Laipham Khunou.
Put in to bat first, NAPSA were bundled out for 110 runs in 18.4 overs but defended their meagre total successfully by restricting SDC to 97/5 in 20 overs on the back of a concerted frugal bowling effort.
Albert 27, Soibam Roben 11 and Mitamnganba Chingtham 10 emerged the main run getters for NAPSA as Khundrakpam Subhachandra 3/25 in 4 overs, Krishnakanta 2/13 in 3 overs and Ziad Khan 2/21 in 4 overs made the batting difficult.
Khundrakpam James and Donny also chipped in with a wicket apiece.
SDC batting department however faced a torrid time facing NAPSA bowlers and ended their chase at 97/5 despite a late fightback from Khundrakpam Subhachandra 20, Khundrakpam James 16 and Irshad Khan 22 .
Albert Sorokhaibam who added highest 27 runs and picked up a wicket was adjudged man of the match.
PCC kick-started their Group B campaign with a 78 run victory against THAU at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College Ground.
10-man PCC racked up a staggering total of 219 runs for 9 wickets after opting to bat first as Chingakham Ranjan shone with a masterful knock of 45-ball 75 on the back of 6 fours and 3 sixes and Takhelmayum Vikash added a quick 23-ball 41 cloberring 3 fours and 3 sixes.
PCC then held THAU for 141 runs for 7 wickets riding on a concerted bowling effort of Thokchom Anand 2/36, Longjam Gibson 2/22 and Pravin Kumar 2/11 to seal the victory.
Earlier in the PCC innings, Khumukcham Romesh enjoyed a three wicket haul (3/29) as N Surash picked two wickets (2/45) .
For THAU, Diamond added the highest 34 off 27 deliveries followed by Khundrakpam Aden 26 not out, Nepolian Takhellambam 17 and Sanjeev Irengbam 16 .
Chingakham Ranjan who starred with his bat was adjudged man of the match.
