AMWJU briefs Guv on role and responsibilities of media fraternity

A team of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) led by president Bijoy Kakchingtabam along with four members called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan today and briefed her on the role and responsibilities of the media fraternity.
The Governor lauded the indispensable role of media persons for dissemination of essential information to all sections of society and also in changing lives of the people for the better, mainly during the ongoing strife in Manipur.
She also acknowledged the effort of the media fraternity in highlighting the concerns and grievances of the IDPs.
Separately, Philem Rohan Singh, Ambassador, International Meetei Christians Youth Assembly (IMCYA) along with four others called on the Governor this evening and submitted a memorandum with an appeal for restoration of peace and harmony in Manipur and ensuring freedom of worship for Meetei Christians and other religions.
The visiting team offered their prayers as a mark of gratitude to the Governor for her dedicated service.
The Governor appreciated their efforts for initiating the peace process through religious activities and informed that continuous efforts are being put in for restoring peace and normalcy in the State.
Dr Sanabam Thaninleima, Director, Khenjonglang, a Centre for Theatre Research, Production and Community Welfare along with one person also called on Governor Uikey and briefed her on the process for initiating peace through emotional communication.
The Governor suggested the visiting team to reach out to the IDPs in relief camps and to assist them in skill development activities for sustainable growth.
