Imphal, December 19 2023: A combined team of Bishnupur commando and 16 Kumaon Regiment recovered and seized a number of arms, ammunition and explosive items from Khuga River area between Kolbung and Phougakchao Ikhai Mamang Leikai this morning.

Based on a specific input, a combined team of Bishnupur district police and a column of 16 Kumaon Regiment under the overall supervision of IGP Zone II, DIG Range III and SP, Bishnupur conducted a search operation in Kolbung and Phougakchao Ikhai Mamang Leikai areas.

A number of arms, ammunition and explosive items were recovered in the course of the search operation.

The recovered items include one carbine with magazine, one country made 9mm pistol with magazine along with three live rounds, four hand grenades, one improvised mortar tube, two 51 mm HE mortar shells, one smoke shell, 17 improvised mortar shells, 12 bore rounds with belt and 200 grams of gunpowder.

The recovered items handed over to Phougakchao Ikhai Police Station, sources informed.

Huge quantity of IMFL seized, one held : A huge quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) was seized by police at Chingarel Tejpur, Imphal East today.

During a normal frisking and checking exercise carried out by Imphal East commandos on Imphal-Ukhrul road at Chingarel Tejpur this morning, one vehicle was detained.

On checking the vehicle, a huge quantity of IMFL was found concealed inside the vehicle.

On spot verification, the driver of the vehicle was identified as Moirangthem Suraj (20) s/o (L) Ibomcha of Langjing Achouba.

He was arrested on the spot and the Indian Made foreign Liquors were seized by observing necessary formalities.

720 canes (500 ml ) of Kingfisher beer, 720 bottles (180 ml) of Old Monk, 360 bottles (375 ml) of Old Monk, 96 bottles (500 ml) of Old Monk, 120 bottles (750 ml) of Old Monk, 24 bottles (750ml) of Blenders Pride, 72 bottles (375 ml) of Blenders Pride, 96 bottles (180 ml) of Blenders Pride, 240 bottles (180 ml) of Sterling Reserve, 432 bottles (180ml) of Mc Dowell, 120 bottles of 375ml) of Mc Dowell and 84 bottles (750ml) of Mc Dowell were seized from the possession of Moirangthem Suraj .

Suraj is being handed over to Excise Department, Imphal East along with the seized Indian Made Foreign Liquors for taking up necessary legal proceedings, said police.
