AMWJU team briefs Governor on role of media

Imphal, December 19 2023:
A team of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) comprising president Bijoy Kakchingtabam and four members called on Governor Anu-suiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday and briefed her on the role and responsibilities of the media fraternity for the welfare of the people in Manipur.
The Governor lauded the indispensable role of the media persons for dissemination of essential information to all sections of society and also in changing lives of the people for the betterment mainly during the on-going strife in Manipur.
She also acknowledged the media fraternity for highlighting the concerns and grievances of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) taking refuge in relief camps.
On the other hand, Meetei Christians Youth Assembly (IMCYA) ambassador Philem Rohan Singh along with four others called on the Governor on Tuesday evening and submitted a memorandum with an appeal for restoration of peace and harmony in Manipur and ensuring freedom of worship for Meetei Christians and other religions.
The visiting team, as a mark of gratitude to the Governor for her dedicated service to the people of Manipur for peace and harmony, offered their prayers during the visit.
The Governor appreciated their efforts for initiating the peace process through religious activities and informed that continuous efforts are being made for restoring peace and normalcy in the state.
Meanwhile, Khenjonglang, a Centre for Theatre Research, Production and Community Welfare director Dr Sanabam Thaninleima met the Governor and briefed her on the process for initiating peace through emotional communication.
The Governor also urged the team to reach out to the IDPs in relief camps and to extend maximum assistance in the form of introducing skill development activities for sustainable growth.
