Manipur clinched championship trophy for the 54th National School Games U-19 Girls Football.
In the final mach at Mumbai today, Manipur girls defeated Haryana 2-0 .
Both the goals were scored in the first half by E Bindyarani and M Bijeta.
Enroute to the summit clash, Manipur blanked Delhi 3-0 in the semi-final and hammered Uttarakhand 8-0 in quarter-final.
On the other hand, Manipur has garnered three gold medals in addition to one silver and one bronze in the 54th National School Games for Aquatics being held at Pune.
After winning gold medal in 50 metres breast stroke on January 5, L Mahesh grabbed two more gold medals in U-14 100 m and 200 m breast stroke competitions.
Manipur have also stormed into the final of the 45th U-19 National Football Championship for Dr BC Roy Trophy.
At Billai, Chattisgarh today, Manipur overcame Delhi 2-1 in the first semi-final.
After N Gogocha scored the first goal in the 65th minute connecting a throw in by Chandramani, the winning goal was an own goal scored by a Delhi defender after an skirmish at the Delhi goal mouth.
Manipur will take on the winner between Jharkhand and Meghalaya on January 11 for the championship trophy.
Manipur have so far won the championship twice in 1997-98 and 2008 while the State team ended runners-up in 2001 and 2004-05 .
