Shillong, January 07 2009:
THE BORDER Security Force (BSF) has pushed an extra battalion into Garo Hills sector of the Indo- Bangladesh border to check the movement of militants.
Following reports that Indian insurgents based in Bangladesh are apprehensive after the Bangladesh Prime Minister assured to take action against them, the intelligence inputs about Indian insurgent groups using Garo Hills as a transit point prompted the BSF to push an extra 1200 men along the borders.
It has been reported that the ULFA has been using the south Garo Hills border as a place for infiltration and ex-filtration and it has facilitated a number of other outfits to and fro from Bangladesh.
