Imphal, January 07 2009:
Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee, Sadar Hills has opposed the demand of Naga People's Organisation (NPO) to transfer Senapati DC Nidhi Kesarwani from the district.
The committee said that it is a well known fact by the people of the district that Nidhi Kesarwani is an administrator who wants to work for the poor and downtrodden people and for the development of the district.
It further said that the DC is an administrator who wants every scheme meant for the poor unfailingly reach to the targeted people as per guidelines of the Government.
During the short period of her stay in the district, people witnessed many positive changes which are the signs of good governance that the people of the district have been longing for, the committee added.
Meanwhile, Movement for Tribal People's Rights Manipur (MTPRM) urged the State Government to bring an early settlement with the NPO by transferring Nidhi Kesarwani from the district.
MTPRM maintained that there is no compelling circumstance for the State Government to retain her as a DC as NPO is a social organisation that represents several tribe hohos of the district.
Ignoring the demand of NPO is akin to gagging the mouth, and also ignoring the suffering of the people of the district, MTPRM added.
