National School U-17 girls football begins

The 62nd National School U-17 girls football tournament 2016 began today at Khuman Lampak Main stadium.
The tournament is being organised by the Dept of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of Manipur under the auspices of National School Games Federation of India.
Chhattisgarh got a walk-over as their opponent for the opening group-A match, Jharkhand, failed to turn up for the match.
As per tournament conduct rules, Chhattisgarh will garner 3 full points and three goals.
The opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by Dr RK Nimai, Consultant to Govt of Manipur; Dr Harmit Singh Pahuja, Director, YAS, Govt of Manipur and Dr Anil Vashisht, Observer, School Games Federation of India as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

In another group A league match today, Gujarat girls came from behind to beat Delhi 2-1.Delhi took an early lead as Shalini Rai slammed home the opener in the 2nd minute of the game.
The lead was cancelled out by Gujarat as Mandani Kapadia scored the leveller in the 20th minute.
A 49th minute goal by Kimjal earned full points to the Gujarat team.
In the group B league match, Odisha blanked Telangana 1-0.The winner for Odisha was netted by Sumila Tantope in the 61st minute.
In another group B league encounter, West Bengal thrashed Karnataka 11-1.The goals for West Bengal were scored by Mugli Hemran (5' and 16'), Devinita Roy (10' and 58'), Sangeeta (22' and 27'), Preeti (31'), Kishan (46') and Tulsi (50', 61' and 68') .
The solidarity goal for Karnataka was netted by Sashi in the 82nd minute.
Group C league match of the day saw Tamil Nadu drubbing Bihar 8-1 .
B Marengammal (13'), S Priyadarshni (15', 20' and 23'), NV Sandhya (51' and 53'), E Kabipameshwar (59' and 62') and J Thamratna (66') were the scorers for Tamil Nadu.
The lone goal for Bihar was scored by Kumari Jyoti in the 70th minute.
Another group C encounter saw a record 19-0 walloping of Vidyabhati by Maharashtra.
Ankita Kate netted thrice, Anga Janik scored a record seven goals, Florence Periya struck four, Yashree and Sruti hit a brace each and Sahai Kale scored one to complete the 19-0 rout.
