Betel leaves disposed of

Imphal, August 01 2020:
A huge quantity of betel leaves seized recently by the Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) have been disposed of and buried in deep pits at Lamdeng Solid Waste Management Plant today.
At least 80 baskets of betel leaves were seized from Grace Colony, Langol Tarung area by volunteers of the TUC on July 29, said its vice-president Pratap Leishangthem.

After the seizure, the betel leaves were kept under strict watch of the volunteers of the TUC.
The Food Safety Department, Lamphel PS, Imphal West Police Station and Imphal Municipal Corporation assisted the TUC volunteers in disposing of the betel leaves today, he said.
