Imphal, March 19 2016 :
The United Naga Council (UNC) has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to tribe hohos, frontal and regional organizations, Church leaders, village headmen/chiefs/chairmen, women organi-sations and the general public for extending fullest support and co-operation to the 15 hours of total shut down from midnight of March 17, 2016 against the three alleged "anti tribal" Bills and resolutions passed by the State Assembly.
The United Naga Council also appreciated national and regional political parties, "the Chief Ministers and the MPs" for extending both solid moral and political supports both from inside and outside the Parliament and also, to all voluntary organizations and right thinking people of national and international level.
The UNC then appealed to all the tribal general public to stand united and remain alert against any anti tribal elements from within and outside attempting to sabotage the common political objective in connivance with State machinery.
Further, UNC said it will carry forward all forms of democratic movement with like minded tribal organizations/JAC to protect the rights of the indigenous tribal people over its land, identity, culture, history and time honoured institutions.
