Imphal, September 04 2012:
Two villagers who went out hunting in a forest near Grihang village under Chassad police station of Ukhrul district have been severely assaulted by some persons suspected to be cadres of a rebel group.
According to a source, Fingyuitai (20) s/o Jonah of Grihang village and Gladstone (18) s/o Ngaraipam of Kharasom went out hunting carrying two single-barrel shotguns on September.
Inside the forest, they were confronted by the suspected militants.
The militants not only thrashed the duo blue and black but also confiscated their shotguns.
But the duo, somehow, managed to make their escape from their hands of their assailants.
Meanwhile, the Eastern Tangkhul Naga Organisation and the Southern Tangkhul Naga Organisation have strongly condemned the assault and asked all concerned not to repeat such unwarranted attacks ever again.
They also demanded the confiscated guns back.
