Girl NIT student missing with Rs 20,000

One NIT girl student who had left her home with Rs 20,000 in cash for admission is missing since Wednesday.
The girl was identified as Romi Chanu, daughter of Late Moirangthem Chaoba and Jamuna of D Phailen Leimaram Leikai.
Talking to reporters on Friday, the distraught mother said Romi had taken Rs 20,000 for admission.
She is a student of 7th semester in NIT, Lamphel and was staying in the girls' hostel.
When the family members tried to make inquiry about her arrival in the hostel, her handset was in a switch off mode.
They did not think anything was amiss as they thought that the battery of handset might be low.
The mother later went to the hostel where she was told that though Romi Chanu did not get admitted in the higher semester.
The mother has lodged a missing person report with the Lamphel police station.
She also said that if Romi is detained for any reason, she should be set free.
