The 15th National Children Science Congress 2007 for Imphal East district was opened today at Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak.
The Science Congress was participated by 12 students representing St George School, Wangkhei, Don Bosco Chingmeirong, Brighter Academy Checkon, Panthoibi High School Bashikhong, Tiny Tots Unique School, Dewlahland, Camp English Academy, Khabam Lamkhai and EK Hr Sec School Sangakpham.
Ten students selected from the district level science congress held under the theme "Nurture nature for our Future" will participate in the State level Science Congress scheduled in October in Ukhrul.
The congress organised by the Science Teachers' Forum Manipur was presided by its former president G Tomba.
Speaking on the occasion, Tomba called upon the teachers not to confine their activities only in class rooms but to educate children in the true sense of education with commitment and dedication.
He noted that recruitment of teachers should be done purely on merit basis, not through corruption or pressure.
It's time to weed out dereliction and negligence on the part of teachers, remarked Tomba.
