Imphal, September 09:
Setting September 12 deadline for the conditional release of its three arrested functionaries, All Manipur Youth Protection Committee (AMYPCO) warned of giving up its ongoing democratic agitation and targeting Government offices if the Government fails to do so.
The three functionaries of the special task force of AMYPCO were arrested by the security forces on August 26 while conducting an anti-drug and alcoholism campaign.
Asserting that non-locals who gave false information to the Assam Rifles were responsible for the arrest of its three functionaries, AMYPCO president Y Sanjoy in a statement categorically stated that the non-locals ought to cease their business and participate in the ongoing agitation for the safe and unconditional release of the three AMYPCO functionaries.
In the event of not heeding to this appeal, the non-locals themselves and the Government itself should be held responsible for any eventuality.
Meanwhile, in protest against the arrest and detention of three functionaries of All Manipur Youth Protection Committee (AMYPCO), members of Kanglei Apunba Ima Yaipha Lup staged a Wakat Meepham in front of Hindu Hotel here today.
The protest demonstration held from 10 am to 4 pm was attended by around 50 members of the womens body.
Decrying the police action in arresting and prolong detection of the three functionaries of AMYPCO, the protestors demanded their release at the earliest possible.
