ADC launches SCA prevention plans

Imphal, June 16 2016:
The Autonomous District Council Senapati today initiated a
programme for Sickle Cell Anaemia test and prevention at
Katomei Center Upper Primary school, Senapati, our correspondent reports.
Speaking at the occasion, CEO Rang Peter, said the
programme is taken up under the SCA to TSP Scheme of
the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India and
was implemented by the Department of Tribal Affairs,
Hills and SC Development, Government of Manipur.
Dr Kasung, Medical Officer, ADC Senapati, explained
what sickle cell anaemia is.
Sickle cell disease is an inher-
ited blood disorder.
Sickle cell disease causes red blood
cells to transform into crescent shape, like a sickle.
The
sickle-shaped red blood cells break apart easily, causing
anaemia.

Markson, ADC Deputy Chairman Holison, ADC spokes-
person Thisho Kriina, ADC Education Board, DLOs, DIs,
AIs, Headmasters, Headmistresses, Sickle Cell master trainers, teachers and students attended the programme.
