Imphal, June 16 2016:
Senapati police and civil society organisations who had safely escorted and provided
food to weary travellers who were caught in
the 24 hours total shut down on June 11 imposed by Tribal JAC said they felt betrayed
by the response it received for their good
deeds after social media and some media
houses circulated wrong information of the
whole story.
The 24 hours bandh condemning the
atrocities of Delhi police on tribal students
community had halted public transport
along National Highway no 2.Stranded
inter-state buses were escorted from Mao-
gate till Senapati DHQ by a team of
Senapati police led by Mao SDPO Tholu
Rocky.
After safely reaching Senapati pub-
lic ground, the police by orders of Senapati
SDPO Hemant Pandey provided tea and
food items to the passengers and trans-
porters.
Police personnel in civil dress
served the passengers.
Towards evening, the police in associa-
tion with the Naga people's organization
(NPO) and Sadar Hill based civil bodies
escorted the vehicles till Motbung.
What appeared the next day in social
media and newspapers, however was a
fabricated information provided by some individuals who
credited civil bodies and persons who were not even present
at the scene nor were aware of the works initiated by the
district police, our correspondent reports .
