Imphal, May 11 2012:
Stating that the passing of the Bill 108 by the Parliament has brought more confusions and damages than any good, the AZSU (AMN), ZFY and other Zeliangrong frontal bodies have reaffirmed to work for further modification of the incomplete Act and incorporation of 'Zeliangrong' to maintain Zeliangrong unity, integrity and fraternity.
In a statement, the ZSUM said Bill No 108 passed by the Parliament has divided the Zeliangrong people into six different tribesZeme, Liangmai, Rongmei, Inpui, Kabui and Kacha Naga which has done great damage to the aspirations of the Zeliangrong people for a collective identity.
Further, against the backdrop of some kindred tribes of the Zeliangrong community celebrating separate tribe recognition, the All Zeliangrong Students' Union (AMN) has raised question whether the Zeliangrong people should celebrate the division of the 'family' while also raising on what basis the Zeme, Liangmai, Rongmei, Inpui, Kabui and Kacha Naga are recognised as separate tribes.
