Imphal, May 02 2014 :
Troops of Assam Rifles averted a major damage by fire at Tupiching village, which is located in the Chandel district about 5 km from the Indo-Myanmar Border.
The only way to reach the village is a five hour walk along a dirt track.
On April 29 a major fire broke out in the village threatening to burn down the houses made of wood.
Troops of 32 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR promptly responded to the situation and helped the villagers extinguish the flames before they could cause any major damage thus saving property and may be lives, informed a PRO IGAR (S) release adding that the gesture on part of Assam Rifles has been well appreciated by the locals.
