Imphal, August 16, 2012:
Strongly condemning the assault of a State student identified as Khomdram Pemananda by mobs in Pune last week, the United Committee Manipur (UCM) has urged the Maharashtra Government to prevail upon the situation and deliver fitting punishment against the culprits involved in it.
Stating that such incidents could ignite an inter-state or communal flareup, a statement issued by the UCM today urged the Manipur Government to do the needful in addressing the matter.
The UCM would not remain a silent spectator to the sufferings of the State students who are studying in mainland India, the statement added.
