Imphal, February 19:
A Gypsy in which some poll workers of MPCC (I) president Gaikhangam were travelling was pushed down a gorge by some armed men at Khoirok along Old Cachar road after forcing all the persons to alight from the vehicle today at around 1 pm.
The armed men numbered about 14 to 18.The six persons travelling in the Gypsy were also thrashed by the armed men.
They are currently taking shelter at the JK Light Infantry post located nearby.
In connection with the incident, the District Election Officer, Tamenglong district has sought a report from Gaikhangam.
The MPCC president is contesting the ensuing elections in Nungba A/C which goes to polls in the third phase on February 23.
