4 ILPS violators pulled up

Imphal, September 20 2022:
The Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West convicted four non locals who were staying in different parts of Thangal Keithel and Nagamapal area without Inner Line Permit for the past three months under section 3 of Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act 1873 and imposed a fine of Rs 500 each.
The non locals identified as Suresh Sah (46) s/o Kishan Ser Sah of Dharmasala Thangal Keithel, Chandra Keshor (20) s/o Yogendra Rai of Khoyathong, Sandeep Yadav (19) s/o Ramkumar Yadav of Dharmasala and Raj Kumar Paswan (20) s/o Gouri Shankar of Kailbari Thangal Keithel were arrested this morning by a team of City police station from Thangal Keithel near Dharmasala for not having Inner Line Permit.
They were produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate, First Class, Imphal West by a team of City police station for summary trial.
As per the Manipur Gazette notification of December 31, 2019, anybody coming from outside the State should obtain a permit on entering the State.
As such, the accused persons ought to have applied for the Inner Line Permit to the authority concerned on their arrival at the entry point into the State.
However they did not do so and violated the rules.
The IO submitted that their act of disobedience to the order duly promulgated is liable for prosecution under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation 1873 and prayed for trial against the accused persons.
The Court, on perusal of the chargesheet submitted for the summary trial and after hearing the submission of the IO, convicted the four non locals and imposed a fine of Rs 500 each under section 3 of Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation 1873 .
