The Kuki Inpi, Manipur (KIM) has vehemently condemned the killing of two youths by Kuki Revolutionary Front (KRF) and termed it as "total disregard of human rights and the law" .
A statement signed by Khaimang Chongloi, general secretary KIM stated that it was regretful that such incidents which can incite communal tension have been occuring time after time.
Whatever reasons they may have, the act is in violation of human rights and the law, it said.
Appealing to all communities not to give communal colour to the incident, the Kuki Inpi, Manipur said "it is in everybody's interest that we are not swayed by any communal feelings" while urging that the act of certain UG groups should not be construed or mistaken as an act of a certain community.
The need of the hour is to maintain self restraint and control, said KIM while adding that it is the duty of both communities to have mutual respect and understanding.
The police forces have arrested the KRF cadres and investigation is underway to unearth the truth behind the crime and the law will take its own course and the culprits will be punished accordingly, said KIM.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur also expressed its sincere condolences to the bereaved families of the two youths.
