Three shops were gutted today afternoon when a fire broke out at Kwakeithel of Imphal west district.
Properties worth over Rs 5.5 lakh destroyed in the fire burnt
incidents.
The fire broke out at about 12.30 pm.
The three shops were rented by one Laishram Priyobarta of Kwakeithel to three tenants and dealing in different items.
How the fire breaks out could not be ascertained immediately.
A cooking gas cylinder exploded in one of the shops after around 10 minutes of catching fire led to the raising inferno beyond uncontrollable way.
Fire fighters from Imphal fire service station could put the fire under control before spreading to the neighbouring shops.
Fire fighters took around 30 minutes to douse the fire.
The pharmacy shop among the gutted shops is runs by one Achom Nobita (30) wife of A Manohorjit.
Life saving drugs around Rs 5 lakh worth has been destroyed in the fire burnt incident.
The owner was fainted with the fire started burning.
Properties worth around Rs 40,000 were reduced to ashes to another shop dealing with fish.
The shop belongs to one Akham Bikash son of A Chandra.
The third gutted shop was dealt with poultry feed (Ram Krishna Poultry Agency) and was run by one Huidrom Krishna son of Nilchandra of Khagempali.
Around 50 live chicken and poultry feed worth around 30,000 were destroyed.
However, there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the incident even though all the three shops were opened at the time of breaking out the fire.
