The 27th Archives Week Celebration cum Records Exhibition organised by Manipur State Archives was opened today at its complex by Art and Culture Minister Ph Parijat.
The celebration started with presentation of a welcome song by artistes of Sree Sree Bal Mukunda Dev Music College followed by lighting of the inaugural lamp by the chief guest Ph Parijat.
The chief guest consequently opened the five day long exhibition of records and the photo gallery.
After the exhibition was formally opened, Ph Parijat released the annual report of the Manipur State Archives and a book titled �Guide To The Records of the Anglo-Manipuri War 1891�.Speaking on the occasion, Parijat observed that the event being organised by the Manipur State Archives would benefit the people of the State through dissemination of information.
Acknowledging the importance of proper and scientific maintenance of historical records for the young scholars, students and future generations, the Minister conveyed his desire to organise such exhibitions every year.
Saying that the unreserved cooperation extended by the scholars and people of the State are instrumental in the successful organisation of the exhibition under the aegis of Manipur State Archives, Parijat noted that the tradition, culture and history are the basic foundation of a nation's march towards progress and development.
As such, the existence of Manipur State Archives is inevitable, he said.
He further appealed to people to help develop the Manipur State Archives and to take advantage of the exhibition in enhancing the knowledge on history and culture of Manipur.
The inaugural function was presided by the Commissioner of Art and Culture P Bharat.
