Reacting to the bomb attack launched by unidentified persons near the Primary Health Centre at Yairipok on November 20 in which a BSF personnel was hurt, a large number of people staged a Wakat Meepham at Yairipok bazar today.
The Wakat Meepham was held from 10 am to 2 pm and was attended by members of the All Yairipok Clubs' Organisation, Auto Service Association, All Yairipok Jeep Service Association, Congress Mahila Mandal, Yairipok, All Yairipok Pharmacies Association and CHC Yairipok.
The dharna was presided by the Councillor of Yairipok Nagar Panchayat, M Shantikumar.
During the Wakat Meepham shops downed shutters and the bazar remained closed.
Asking those responsible for the blast to come out in the open, the meeting also appealed to all concerned to desist from launching bomb attacks in crowded and public places in the future.
If the pleas of the public are not heeded then the people will unitedly stand against all such incidents, resolved the meeting.
On the other hand the CHC Yairipok and pharmacies which had shut down to protest the assault of the staff of the CHC and some pharmacists by security personnel in the aftermath of the bomb attack will re-open tomorrow.
The All Yairipok Pharmacy Association and the staff of the CHC issued a joint statement condemning the November 20 incident and added that this was the second such bomb attack at the same place.
Dr RK Bijoychandra the MO of the CHC in a statement said such incidents mentally disturb doctors and staff which hinders them in treating patients.
