The issue over the alleged cold-blooded murder of N Binoy is not yet over as various forms of agitation including prohibition of election activities in Thanga constituency have been lined up.
A public meeting held under the aegis of the JAC Against The Brutal Killing of N Bonoy alias Khaiba today at Bhubon High School ground, Keirenphabi in connection with the issue resolved to intensify agitation until and unless all the commando personnel involved in the killing of Binoy are terminated from service.
Among others, the meeting was addressed by Poirei Leimarol Apunba Manipur, Committee on Human Rights (COHR), MEEKOL, Nupi Samaj and AMKIL.
Apart from condemning the murder in the strongest term, the meeting resolved to continue agitation of various kinds until the suspended three commando personnel are terminated from service.
Unconditional release of the five individuals arrested by police on their way to bring back Binoy home and prohibition of all election related activities in Thanga constituency until the above demands are met were other resolutions adopted during the meeting.
It further resolved to extend full cooperation to all the movements of the JAC from the side of the Apunba Lup, local clubs and other social organisations and not to perform the last rites of Binoy until an amicable understanding is reached with the authority concerned.
Combing operation : security forces conducted cordon and search operation in and around nongmaikhong this afternoon following reports of underground cadres loitering in the area.
There is, however, no report of any arrest.
The operation was jointlyconducted by personnel of Imphal East commando, Bishnupur police commandos, 22 Maratha Light Infantry and Canchipur stationed 32 Assam Rifles.
The security forces reportedly opened a few rounds of fire on seeing suspicious movement of some unidentified persons on the lake side of Nongmaikhong Makha Leikai.
