Imphal, August 21 2009:
The All Manipur District Council Teachers' Assn has decried the alleged non-payment of salaries for the last five months.
According to a press release issued by the association, District Council teachers and employees of the six hill districts numbering 3888 have not been given their monthly salaries since March this year citing incompletion/non-submission of MGEL by the CEOs of District Councils.
It questioned why the innocent employees should be harassed and made to suffer so long for the failure of the authority responsible for compiling MGEL.
Noting that employees of the State Govt have been already entitled 14 percent DA, the association decried that there has been no positive response Govt despite numerous memoranda submitted to the Department concerned asking for completion of MGEL, release of pending salaries and entitlement of 14 percent DA.
In case the Govt fails to address the grievances of the District Council teachers and employees on or before August 27, the association would be launching various forms of agitation, it cautioned.
