Though security force claimed that four militants belonging to different organisations were arrested during a joint operation launched by 33 AR personnel and Thoubal police commandos in the general area of Chingjao near Waikhong today, locals said that the security personnel ordered the villagers to come out and thrashed two villagers.
PIB Defence Wing in a statement said that four militants were arrested and identified them as E Bishwaroop alias Ibomacha Singh alias Rocky, of Hiyanglam (PLA), Maibam Deben Singh, of Hiyanglam (KYKL), Thongam Sana, of Wangu and Kakchingtabam, Wabagai, both of KCP.
One Burmese carbine machine gun was also recovered from the apprehended militants.
All four have been handed over to Police Station.
On the other hand the villagers said that they were ordered to assemble at Tokpaching by 33 AR and Thoubal police commandos at about 6.30 am today.
Two persons who the security personnel had brought with them were used to verify the identities of the villagers.
A search operation was also launched at the village.
During the course of the operation, the troops found four vests, one shorts and one trouser at the residence of one Tongbram Tomba (45).The security personnel then thrashed Tomba questioning him about the garmetns found in his house.
Another person identified as Thiyam Mohendro was also assaulted by the security personnel, said the villagers.
A scooter belonging to one A Juge of Andro who had to Tokpaching was also taken away.
