Iftar with locals at Lilong

Living up to the spirit of Ramzan, 6 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR(South) conducted an Iftar Party on 16 Jun 2017.Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramzan and is often done as a community, with people gathering to break their fast together.
Iftar marks the end of fast by practicing Muslims who abstain from food, water and sensual pleasure from sunrise to sunset.
Approx 275 people including village elders and Maulvis of local Mosque attended the celebration at Lilong.
Many civil dignitaries of the area attended the function and exchanged good wishes with all present.
Company Commander from 6 Assam Rifles greeted the gathering and reiterated the efforts of Assam Rifles towards the security, peacekeeping and general welfare of the people of Manipur.
He also deliberated upon synergy between the locals and Assam Rifles.
The event began with prayer and was followed by sumptuous feast on the occasion.
This initiative was highly appreciated by locals and hoped for more such events in future.
