Farmers awareness programme held

Any Government employee involved in corruption will be suspended.
This was stated by Manipur Pollution Control Board Chairman L Radhakishwor Singh during an awareness programme held at Toubul Bazar community hall today.
The 'organisation of cluster demonstration under NFSM and crops system based training programme' was hosted by Farmers Club, Toubul under the sponsorship of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
The training programme conducted especially for farmers of Toubul Gram Panchayat was attended by Manipur Control Board Chairman L Radhakishwor Singh as chief guest, Toubul High School Assistant teacher (retired) Yenglem Thoiba Singh as president, Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture) Dr Suhel Akhtar (IAS) and Director of Agriculture Pheiroijam Rajendro Singh as guests of honour.
Speaking at the event, L Radhakishwor stated that Bishnupur district and Imphal East district are the two districts most influenced by farming and agriculture among other districts of Manipur while adding that the State Government will take up necessary measures for the betterment of the farmers.
He advised the farmers to form two cluster teams comprising of 150 farmers each for Toubul area and also assured to contribute Rs one lakh each to the cluster teams from his pocket.
An initiative for setting up a solar water pump has been planned for the farmers, he stated and urged the farmers and people of Toubul to work together and cooperate with each other.
Senior scientists who attended the programme as resource persons elaborated on the right way of farming and spoke on how to increase revenues through proper selection of crops and plants.
Water pump sets and high yielding rice grains were distributed to the participants.
