GOC gives personal touch to peace camp

Giving his personal touch to the Red Shield Peace Camp which started today, GOC of 57 Mountain Division, Maj Gen DS Hooda has called upon the youth to shoulder the responsibility that lies ahead of them.
The Red Shield Peace Camp is being organised by the 39 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 57 Mountain Division and 27 Sector Assam Rifles and is meant for the NCC cadets drawn from all over Churachandpur district.
The peace camp will go on
till June 21 .
Attending the inaugural function of the peace camp at Rayburn College here, DS Hooda exhorted the young men and women to face the challenges and responsibilities of the future fittingly.
"The camp's theme of peace and harmony is very relevant today.
I hope that peace and harmony will prevail.
The future of Manipur; the future of Churachandpur is squarely in your hands," the GOC said while addressing the young students and added that realizing it will depend on the way the young cadets wish to shoulder their responsibilities.

Reaching out to the people in general, the GOC said that such a "camp provides a common platform for the Army and the civil society to come together bridging the man made chasm created by lack of communication" .
The GOC also lauded the various initiatives taken up by the 27 Sector Assam Rifles in particular to promote peace and harmony.
Be it in terms of cultural festival, sports festival, tribal dance competition and choir competition, the initiative taken up 27 Sector is commendable, he said.
Commander of 27 Sector AR Brig Surinder Mehta; CO of 39 Assam Rifles, Colonel Vineet Sharma; Commandant of 14 Bn NCC Lt Col Sapam and Principal-in-charge of Rayburn College D Thangchinmawi were among the dignitaries who attended the inaugural function.
A number of adventure activities are in the pipeline for the cadets attending the camp, the second of its kind in the district, which includes Para Sailing, Rock Climbing, Handling of small arms, and a cycle expedition till the sub-divisional headquarters of Singngat.
Classes will also be given on physical training, weapons training, map reading, use of GPS, unarmed combat, Karva Maga and career counselling, said a statement issued by 39 AR.
