AMUCO extends aid to Jun 18 heroes

All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has extended monetary aid to two surviving children of June 18 martyrs and one brave woman who have been maimed for life "due to excesses committed by security forces" during the historic mass movement of June, 2001 .
In a simple function held in their office today, the AMUCO president and the general secretary donated Rs 5000 to S Subita Devi whose one leg was amputated due to injuries as well as to Laitonjam Gulson and Kshetrimayum Golby, son and daughter of L Rajkumar and Ksh Romeo respectively who laid their down their lives during the historic mass movement for the sake of Manipur's integrity.
Speaking at the occasion, AMUCO president KT Rehman said that AMUCO is still firm on its commitment to defend the unity and territorial integrity of Manipur together with the people of Manipur.
Saying that the united stand taken by the people of Manipur as shown by the mass movement of June 18, 2001 would remain the most glorious chapter in the contemporary history of Manipur, KT Rehman said that AMUCO always held those martyrs who laid down their lives for the sake of Manipur's integrity during the historic mass movement, and their families with deepest respect.
He further appealed to all the people to join the memorial service being organised in honour of the martyrs on June 18 .
Meanwhile, the Eastern Clubs Development Organisation (ECDO) has handed over Rs 20,000 to the AMUCO president after collecting the same amount from donations given by people residing within its jurisdiction towards successful organisation of the Unity Day.
ECDO general secretary L Dojendro has conveyed gratitude for the donations made by people towards the successful observance of Unity Day in memory of the martyrs.
On the other hand, a press release issued by North Eastern United Clubs Organisation (NEUCO) informed that it has handed over Rs 19,980 after collecting donations made by different people to AMUCO as assistance towards observing the Unity Day successfully.
The Club further conveyed gratitude to all the donors.
